HOW CAN I PREVENT OR AVOID A KNEE INJURY WHILE PLAYING GOLF?
Wearing a Bauerfeind brace or knee support can minimise your chances of a golf injury by providing enhanced stability, proprioception and moisture-wicking medical-grade compression. Bauerfeind knee braces assist with healing using medical grade compression, a factor not found when using basic neoprene sleeves and braces. The added support will help stabilise your joint without limiting your ability to putt, drive down the fairway, chip a ball and finish on par.
HOW TO TREAT A GOLF KNEE INJURY
- We recommend seeking treatment from a physiotherapist for treating a golf injury. They may recommend one the following treatments.
- Strains or Sprains. Many sprains and strains can be treated with the RICE method: Rest, Ice, Compression and Elevation. A good physiotherapist can assist with the recovery however prevention is always better than cure.
- Arthritis of the Knee. Non-surgical treatment options for severe knee arthritis include physiotherapy exercises, applications of ice or heat and using supportive devices.
- Jumper’s Knee. This is commonly known as Patellar tendonitis. Rarely does this condition require surgery. It can generally be treated using a combination of anti-inflammatory medications (such as ibuprofen) and exercise. A corticosteroid injection may also be used.
Play it safe: Consult a doctor if you experience unusually intense and persistent knee pain.
