HOW AM I ABLE TO PREVENT OR AVOID AN ELBOW INJURY WHEN I PLAY RUGBY?
Playing rugby at any level brings with it a risk of elbow injury. While rugby requires a lot of finesse and strategy it is a contact sport and the additional strain on your joints can take it’s toll. Common elbow injuries rugby players suffer include tendinitis, elbow bursitis, dislocation, fractures, sprains and strains.
A Bauerfeind elbow brace and support both protects and helps with the treatment through the provision of enhanced stability, proprioception (2) and medical-grade compression. Bauerfeind elbow braces also help to promote blood flow with the use of our 3D weaved medical grade compression, something not found when using simple neoprene sleeves and braces. A good elbow support for Rugby is the EpiPoint, which supports and relieves elbow pain. Protect your elbows so you can enjoy your next tackle, try, conversion or ruck.
HOW TO TREAT A RUGBY ELBOW INJURYWe recommend visiting a physiotherapist for treatment and advice on treating common rugby injuries. They may recommend the following treatments.
- Strains or Sprains. Many sprains and strains can be treated with the RICE method: Rest, Ice, Compression and Elevation. A good physiotherapist can assist with the recovery however prevention is always better than cure.
- Tendinitis. Rarely does this condition require surgery. It can generally be treated using a combination of anti-inflammatory medications (such as ibuprofen) and exercise. A corticosteroid injection may also be used.
- Stress Fractures. Consult a sports medicine doctor X-rays. Recommended treatments include rest, anti-inflammatory medication, stretching, and muscle strengthening exercise. Stress fractures take about six weeks to heal.

“My elbow is worn out from many years of throwing a baseball, football, bowling ball, as well as the accordion. The Bauerfeind elbow support, in my opinion, is exponentially superior to the other products I’ve used.” #epipoint #manutrain . . . #elbowsupport #wristsupport #bauerfeindaustralia #sydneyharbourbridge #motionislife #bauerfeind #wristbrace #wristwraps #trx #testimonial
