WHY SHOULD YOU WEAR AN ANKLE BRACE FOR RUGBY?
Your ankles help mobilise and propel your body forward during exercise, which can put a lot of strain and tension on the joint. Rugby involves a lot of high intensity sprinting, cutting and repetitive footwork, and this combined with fatigue can increase your risk of injury.
Wearing a Bauerfeind brace or ankle support such as the MalleoTrain S when playing rugby can minimise your chances of injury through enhanced stability and proprioception.
Bauerfeind ankle braces also help to promote blood flow with the use of medical-grade compression, something not found when using simple neoprene sleeves and braces.

Take a look at Manly Sea Eagles Rugby players Daly Cherry-Evans, Api Koroisau and Jorgé Taufua at our Elizabeth Street store with Bauerfeind Supports and Braces.
They were 3D measured in-store to ensure the sleeves and braces had the perfect fit. Bauerfeind is the only braces supplier in Australia to provide 3D scanning prior to purchasing the ankle brace.
Risk of injury can be reduced with an ankle brace, which stabilise your ankle joints and activate and massage the surrounding muscles. Protect your ankles so you can enjoy your next tackle, try, conversion or ruck.

HOW TO TREAT COMMON ANKLE INJURIES FROM RUGBY?
We recommend visiting a physiotherapist for treatment and advice on treating common rugby injuries. They may recommend the following treatments.
- Strains or Sprains. Many sprains and strains can be treated with the RICE method: Rest, Ice, Compression and Elevation. A good physiotherapist can assist with the recovery however prevention is always better than cure.
- Stress Fractures. A stress fracture is caused by overuse or repetitive movements that leads to a small crack or bruising in a bone. Refraining from high impact activities and allowing optimal time for recovery is recommended. The RICE method and anti-inflammatory medications will also be beneficial
